Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun

This anime is about a high school student Sakura who is in love with her classmate Nozaki. She quickly confesses her love to him, but he misunderstands and thinks she is just a fan. He invites her to his house to help him with some drawings. She discovers he’s actually a renowned shojo manga artist named Sakiko Yumeno. She agrees only as a way to get closer to him. In their adventures they meet other schoolmates that help assist them and help inspire them.

I really enjoyed this anime and the manga. The voice actors matched the characters very well, and overall there was really nothing that I could pinpoint as being negative about the anime or manga.

Automata

It is the year 2044. The Earth’s pollution damaged atmosphere has allowed solar flares to cause the progressive desertification and irradiation of the world killing over 99% of the population. Robots called Pilgrims were created to stop the desertification and rebuild but when they failed were made manual labor.

The robots are controlled by two unalterable protocols first they cannot harm any form of life, and second they cannot modify themselves or other robots. The reason for the first protocol is clear but the second protocol was so that robots couldn’t evolve.

The main character is Jacq Vaucan (Antonio Banderas) an insurance investigator for the robotics company. A robot is shot when it appears to be self-repairing and Jacq is sent to investigate…

This movie was done very well. All the actors did a really good job, except for Antonio Banderas who did great! The effects were nearly undetectable from live action. The story is classic science fiction done very well. All in all I am surprised this movie wasn’t a bigger hit. Enjoy it!

The X-Files

The X-Files is the section of the FBI that deals with unexplained phenomena. The unexplained include creature reports, conspiracies, time anomalies, UFO reports and many other situations. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully investigate the X-Files and over time and many episodes uncover many incredible situations and do their best to deal with them.

 

Hit & Miss

Hit and Miss a British television show about a transsexual woman assassin named Mia. She finds out she has an 11-year-old child from a previous relationship before she began MTF (male-to-female) transition, and his mother is dying of cancer. Upon receiving the notification Mia goes to the smallholding where her son and two other siblings live. She finds out she is too late and the mother has died. She is then left to decide what her next course of action is.

The series is well done. What was a surprise was how well they incorporated the unique challenges transsexuals face. The acting is very well done. The plot is well thought out. I expected a big deal to be made about the gender identity issues, but it really didn’t. I enjoyed the series and would recommend it.

World War Z

A disease causing people to turn into zombies breaks out in several cities around the world.  Gerry Lane(Brad Pit) plays a former U. N. investigator who is trying to stop the global zombie pandemic. He then travels around the world looking for patient zero, the first case, since it is believed the first case is the key to stopping the infection. (spoilers limited)

Coldplay – Ghost Stories Review

As a fan of their previous work, I wouldn’t say this is their best work so far, but that isn’t to say it isn’t good. It’s amazing. Also, anyone who updated to IOS 8 got one of their newer albums as well, but this is probably because Apple and Coldplay have a relationship. When this album released Itunes radio had a station devoted to Coldplay only.

It was interesting to find out that Chris Martin (lead singer) got the idea to create this album, by discovering the concept that your previous actions affect your present life.

The idea of Ghost Stories, for me, was “how do you let the things that happen to you in the past – your ghosts – how do you let them affect your present and your future?” Because there was a time when I was feeling like they were going to drag me down and ruin my life, and the lives of those around me. I was very lucky to meet a very good sufi teacher who started to introduce the idea of “if you sit with your experiences and the things you’ve been through, they alchemize.” At the time he said that, I didn’t really know what that meant, but I trusted that it would work, and the more that I was learning about that, the more music just started flowing through.

Bleachers – Strange Desire

This has to be the best album of 2014. I’ve struggled looking for a pop artist that wasn’t the typical crude and overly stereotypical. I’m not to artists that continue to perpetuate disappointing stereotypes of wannabe quality artists. This album, even though it probably didn’t have the usual amount of songs, was quality was spot on.

Seriously, they debuted this year and they were better then Beyonce in the love song department. What girl or boy wouldn’t want to hear: “I didn’t know I was lonely ’til I saw your face”. Such simple words but they’re not trashy or overused.

My favorite songs from the album are: Wild Hearts and I Wanna Get Better.

Get Santa is a brand new British Christmas movie from Warner Brothers. Santa is testing a new sleigh when he hits wire and is thrown out and knocked out, his sleigh crashes and his confused reindeer get free in the city. Very soon the police have Santa locked up and the reindeer penned up. The only people who can save Christmas are a young boy and his ex-con father…

Breaking Bad

This series is about Walter White, a highly over-qualified high school chemistry teacher. Walter has minor financial difficulties but he, his wife, and his disabled son are surviving. But when he is diagnosed with lung cancer and is informed he has only got a short time left to live he decides that he must find a way to make money for his families’ future and to pay for cancer treatment.

Walter decides to use his chemistry skill to make methamphetamine when he becomes aware an ex-student of his is cooking meth. This leads to five seasons worth of complications…

A Princess for Christmas

This is a Hallmark movie. Jules Daly, of Buffalo, NY, winds up the gaurdian of her niece and nephew, Milo and Maddie, when her sister and brother-in-law pass away.

There is trouble and Jules loses her job. Christmas prospects look pretty bleak. A surprise visit from the butler of the childrens’ paternal grandfather, Duke Edward of Castlebury, brings an invitation to spend Christmas with the Duke at his home.
