Crossing Jordan (TV Series)

Jordan Cavanaugh is the only child of a widowed and retired ex-cop. She is a forensic pathologist who can’t help getting involved in the cases of the deceased victims she sees in front of her everyday. She is a rule breaker when it is necessary, and is very direct when dealing with people. Dr. Jordan works in the Boston morgue with a crew of unique individuals who are all great at what they do.

I don’t have the foggiest idea how I missed this show when it first aired. Crossing Jordan is a forensic procedural drama. It is well acted, and well written. It is fun to watch.

Red Dwarf

Craig Charles plays David Lister who gets lost in space and time with a computer generated holographic companion, Arnold Rimmer played by Chris Barrie and a cat that has evolved into a biped played by Danny John-Jules and later in the series a robot named Kryten played by Robert Llewellyn. In their efforts to get back to Earth they have all manner of hilarious obstacles.

Laughing as I watch Red Dwarf is the one of the easiest abdominal workouts I ever do and I have been laughing for over 20 years(absolutely incredible abs!). The characters personalities clash with outrageously funny results. Truly, our heroes are not the most intellectual of crews but they seem to flounder through challenges in their own way…blundering and panicking seem to be their first actions followed by applying truly remarkable problem solving skills(though I’m not sure what the remark would be!).

Importantly though, they don’t swear, there is no nudity, and no overtly adult subject matter. This is good clean fun family safe, kid safe, clean fun…well cleanish as Lister is a slob and they use the swear word ‘smeg’ a lot!

Witches of Eastend

Two sisters discover they have magical powers. Their aunt arrives and their aunt and mother together reveal to them that they are actually witches. Learning about their powers presents many challenges in both their public and personal lives. When an evil adversary from the distant past attacks the situation escalates and the family’s situation becomes even more difficult as well as becoming dangerous.

This is a fun show if you haven’t seen it. This show is quite heavy on the characters’ relationships and a bit light on actual action. I enjoyed the show don’t get me wrong but a little more doing and a little less talking would have been good. For instance there is a love triangle that goes round and round through the entire series.

American Horror Story

American Horror Story is a show that provides variety for the viewer. Don’t expect the next season to be like the previous season, I liked the first and third season, but the second one wasn’t as appealing and was very slow. From my view of the show it seems that each season has it’s own writer or they were having a over-encumbered year , and weren’t focusing on the show at the time. I can’t give you many names of the actors since their were so many, but many of the actors were reused for different seasons so you’ll see them in the next season. One of my favorite actors out of all of them is: Jessica Lange she was in every season even the new fourth season. Read more of this post

Once Upon A Time

In ‘Once Upon A Time’ fairy tail characters are brought into the non-magic world or ‘mundane’ world without memory of  who they were.  Then daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, Emma, travels to Storybrook the small fictional town where her parents and other fairy tail characters are living lives opposite to their original lives. Without knowledge of who they were or what they are capable of. The Evil Queen, Regina, the adoptive mother of Emma’s son, tries to terrorize Emma so that she will leave.

This was a good show to begin with, but by the middle of the second season it began to become ‘samey’. They kept getting into situations where they needed help, and magically or without magic somehow they would get out of these situations. There is a point a writer gets to that you write your characters into trouble and write them out of trouble in series work when you haven’t got a real plan.  Sometimes that technique works sometime it becomes obvious.

This series is available for your viewing pleasure on: VUDU, Netflix, and Google Play.
