WE LOVED THIS SERIES! Mostly me though. I was so thrilled when I saw the ending, which is a real tearjerker and an utter surprise at that. Even though this show had lots of crudeness it was maybe one of the best endings to a TV series that I’ve ever seen. I was very pleased that it didn’t end on a cliff hanger.

The Host

Alien body snatchers called Souls invade Earth possessing nearly all humans. A few humans are able to resist and even fight back. One Soul possesses a young woman named Melanie Stryder and meets strong resistance. Over time the relationship between Melanie and the Soul, that calls itself Wanderer, possessing her becomes cooperative and even friendly. As Wanderer learns more about humanity it’s attitude changes.

This movie is based on a book by Stephanie Meyer who also wrote the Twilight series. The movie is done really well. I have not yet read the book so I cannot say how well the movie follows it. I suspect not everyone will be happy with the alien body snatchers being referred to as Souls. The vehicles with chrome-like exteriors were kinda cool. There are some great sports cars in the movie especially the Lotus. I also like the Unimogs. I enjoyed this movie.

Destination Truth

Destination Truth is a series about Josh Gates and his team heading out all over the world to try to document a paranormal or cyrptozoological report. They used night vision, thermal imaging, EMF Meters, audio amplification devices etc. Usually each episode contains two targets. Once done with an investigation they return to their base and review the evidence collected sometimes with the help of experts from outside the team. The team members changed several times over the 5 seasons but the people were always did a really good job in the show.

Destination Truth ran from June 6. 2007 and the last season began July 10, 2012 and it was great fun. Not so much for finding their latest cryptid, monster, or paranormal target but for the cultures and locations they visited. Josh Gates and crew always interacted with the people and participated in their culture and listened to and appreciated their beliefs. I enjoy Destination Truth and watch the episodes over and over. Wonderful entertainment!

Gugure! Kokkuri-San

Kohina Ichimatsu a high school student who claims to be a doll, one day summons Kokkuri-san a fox spirit. After observing her unhealthy habits, he decides to haunt her: cooking for her and cleaning the house. The series opens up revieling the spirits that haunt her: Inugami (dog spirit), Shigaraki (tanuki spirit), and Tama (cat spirit).

The series was amazing! Though it’s quite random especially since it has an alien in it who is called Yamamoto who attends school with Kohina. For those who are interested in a good fantasy anime that has some value to it I would suggest this.

For those who want to watch it it’s available on: Animeshow and Crunchyroll.

Dark Space

This movie is basic low end science fiction, but hey, it’s out there and I gave it a try. The story is about a group of college kids who rent a spaceship and plan some fun on a distant resort planet. The rental ship is too slow so they con their tech savy friend into trying to speed up the ship. In tampering with the ship a mistake is made and they fly into an asteroid field and damage their ship. They are forced to attempt a landing on an unidentified earth-like planet. Once on the planet things get rough, obviously. Read more of this post

The Lone Gunmen

I have always loved the electric guitar playing the Star Spangled Banner!

The Lone Gunmen was a Fox Network spin-off of the X-Files. The last episode was aired mid 2001. It is about 3 good-hearted conspiracy reporters who publish a very small underground newspaper called The Lone Gunman. The mission for their newspaper is to root out conspiracies and coverups because they strongly believe the people have a right to know the truth, For the record I agree and that’s one of the many reasons I enjoyed this so much. Dream House

Daniel Craig(James Bond, Cowboys and Aliens) plays Will Atenton, who moves his wife and children to a nice new home. Something isn’t right though, the neighborhood isn’t receiving them as kindly they’d imagined. Even the police coldly ignore his complaint of a trespasser. Some discoveries in the Atenton’s new home begin to indicate a dark past for the house itself… Read more of this post

Firefly

If you are looking for an utterly unique show to watch this is it. Firefly had one season the last episode was aired July 2003, but there is a huge following of fans to this day…including me! Fans refer to themselves as Browncoats for the uniform coats worn by the main character during his military service.

An ex-military man buys a small cargo spaceship classified as Firefly class and makes himself captain. The captain is joined by a military veteran he served with, her husband as pilot, a gung-ho badass, and a brilliant mechanic as crewmembers. More folks join as the story progresses and I think every character added makes the show better and none are superfluous. Oh there is also a character who rents one of the two shuttles on the Firefly and that character really gets my attention! Read more of this post
