Little Fuzzy by H. Beam Piper
November 12, 2014
Posted by on The place is the planet Zarathustra there you will accompany Little Fuzzy and his family who aided by a few friends as they struggle to have fuzzies recognized as a sapient species with dire consequences if they fail.
Many years (four decades!) ago the book ‘Little Fuzzy’ was handed to me by a family member who had just finished it. On the cover was a lean older man with a furry little bipedal creature on his shoulder and four more of the creatures around him. The man was carrying a what appeared to be a futuristic rifle and his little companion was carrying a metallic spear-like tool with a blade on one end and a ball on the other end.
I remember I thought it looked a little too cute since I was a Heinlein, Tom Swift, Isaac Asimov, Piers Anthony type person but since it appeared there were guns involved I decided to give it a try.
My mother had to tell me to put the book aside to eat dinner…I didn’t want to put it down. I got completely involved in the story. When I finished the book my family member wanted the book back so I had to go buy my own copy.
At the store I found out that there was a series of three Fuzzy Books by H. Beam Piper. They are:
Little Fuzzy
Fuzzy Sapiens
Fuzzies and Other People
I also found other books in the series that were not penned by H. Beam Piper. I have read all that I can find and have enjoyed them all.
